Manifestations 2019: Superpowers to the People!
From 19 to 27 October, Manifestations on floor 9 of the Veemgebouw Eindhoven, will give Superpowers to the People! For the fourth year in a row, Manifestations shows artists who, in a funny, spectacular or controversial way, examine the (mis) matches between people and technology and ask how technology can contribute to a sweeter, more humane world.
Technology offers humanity superpowers. The sky is the limit when it comes to shaping our body, the earth and our mind.
But will we all have a superpower, super beauty and will we all become very old or is that only for the happy few? Are we still allowed to be vulnerable?
With more than 50 works by mostly young, recently graduated artists who put the exciting interaction between people and technology in a different light. Discover for example the apple dress, the bulletproof vest for pregnant women, the smog-sucking umbrella of the future, play Russian roulette with food allergy, learn all about Botox and AI, VR and media madness, visit post-apocalyptic worlds, experience light therapy that helps against burnouts , enjoy fashion from recycled PET bottles, experience tours for the blind, and many more ‘unimaginable’ technological realities.

Ultrashort:
The Manifestations festival at DDW 19-27 Oct in Eindhoven, is dedicated to showing the more human side of technology.
Curator Viola van Alphen 2019 has selected works by over fifty young artists and recent graduates that aim to shine a powerful light on the exciting interaction between human beings and technology.
The festival will touch on themes as wide-ranging and current as geopolitical superpowers, body enhancements, robots, fear, hope, mass media, e-Fashion and the Macho versus the feminine. Participants include Nick Ervinck, who combines fragmentary elements from the past and futuristic imagery to create a cyborgsculpture.
